WHAT WE DO Toronto Hydro plays an important role in Ontarios electricity system. Were responsible for delivering electricity to our almost 800,000 customers in Canadas largest city. A leader in conservation and demand management, we distribute approximately 20% of the electricity consumed in the province. Through planned investments in neighbourhoods throughout the city, our nearly 1,500 employees are working hard to ensure reliable service for our customers as we work to upgrade our aging grid. Were focused on sustainability both in our own operations and by giving our customers the tools and tips they need to reduce their electricity usage and on innovation. Were involved in several energy storage projects, which are examples of the flexible, integrated electricity grid we need to continue to build in the future. Were proud to be working to push our industry forward. Toronto Hydro is a for-profit corporation wholly owned by the City of Toronto. We have: 177,220 poles 15,560 kms of overhead wires 13,040 kms of underground wires 60,420 distribution transformers 157 municipal substations
