Smart Energies (www.smart-energies.eu) is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) specialized in the development, financing, construction and operation of renewable projects across Europe and Africa. The group develops a growing portfolio of solar and hydro power plants, with a strong focus on solar mid-size assets (from 100 kW) in France and Italy, as well as on larger-scale solar plants (> 10 MWp) in new markets (Africa, Eastern Europe). Smart Energies currently owns and operates more than 200 plants accounting for ca 80 MW of installed capacity. The group continues to invest in green/brown field projects in Europe and now in Africa and the Middle-East, where Smart Energies has developed a pipeline of solar projects for both commercial and industrial (C&I) customers and utilities. On top of power production the group has developed a renewable energy storage solution through Areva H2Gen (jointly held with Ademe and Areva), a company developing and manufacturing PEM electrolyzers enabling to produce hydrogen from water and electricity.
