Ocean Energy Industries
Ocean Energy Industries, Inc. manufactures WaveSurfer, wave energy converter (WEC) that generates electricity by harnessing renewable energy of ocean waves in an economically viable and environmentally friendly manner. WaveSurfer is a reliable, inexpensive and efficient off-shore system, point absorber that can be installed on different depths by mooring. The system contains no expensive and complex parts, lubricants, high precision hydraulics or air pumps, everything that makes other competing systems significantly more expensive and potentially hazardous. One of the main advantages of WaveSurfer system is its remarkably high survivability level. WaveSurfer's main energy conversion and power generation parts are completely submerged at a depth where the water is not affected by the waves, therefore is still or almost still. WaveSurfer is designed to operate in harmony with waves rather than attempting to resist them. Due to its unique design each unit can be cost effectively transported anywhere in the world. Parts are shipped in regular 20'? or 40'? containers and assembled at the installation site. WaveSurfer substantially outperforms the competing technologies with respect to efficiency, survivability, cost effectiveness and maintenance. WaveSurfer is commercially available since 2009 and to date over 40 MW in WaveSurfer capacity have been installed around the world. Ocean Energy Industries, Inc. is a privately held company with offices in USA, Russia, Ukraine, Guam, Trinidad & Tobago and Federated States of Micronesia. The ocean holds a tremendous amount of untapped energy. Ocean energy comes in a variety of forms such as marine currents, tidal currents, geothermal vents, and waves. Wave energy is generally considered to be the most concentrated and least variable form of renewable energy. Waves are predictable days and even months in advance making it easy to match supply and demand.
