Established in August 1997, BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2017. Themed �20 years of progress�, the company has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception. It is a smart joint venture partnership between BASF of Germany, one of the world�s largest chemical companies and PETRONAS, Malaysia�s fully integrated oil and gas multi-national, under its subsidiary PETRONAS Chemicals Group. With an initial investment of RM3.4 billion, this partnership brought together a vast amount of experience, innovation, cutting edge technology and an abundance of strategically located high quality resources. The second wave of investments includes the MYR1.5 billion (approx. US$500 million) Integrated Aroma Ingredients Complex and production facilities for Highly Reactive Polyisobutene (HR-PIB) which are expected to come on-stream soon whereas the 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid plant started up successfully in late 2016. Today, operating from one of the largest Verbund (Integrated) Chemical Sites in Asia Pacific, BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. has progressed to become a leading chemical company, fundamental in producing and marketing chemical products which are ever present and highly essential in consumers'? daily lives.
