Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) came into existence in January, 1976 when Burmah-Shell was taken over by the Government of India. BPCL has formed 23 joint venture companies covering refining, city gas distribution, renewable energy, pipelines, gas, into-plane servicing, airports, payment banks etc. to cater to the diverse requirements of its customers.
